Boys Productions was formed in Toronto in 1992 by Jeffrey
Round and John Davison.
As our name would suggest,
we have always intended to be a company that devotes a great deal of its
resources to film, though our early years were focused on live theatrical
presentation.
During that time we produced
six stage works, won some awards and grants, and got up on our collective
feet with the help and encouragement of friends and colleagues. Always
in the back of our minds was film.
As our stage work progressed,
it became increasingly geared towards crossing--or blurring--the boundaries
between film and stage. With The Michael Ridler Project (1996),
a multi-media work incorporating slides, videos and music with live performance,
it became clear that we had somehow reached the edge, and there was no
going back.
My Heart Belongs to
Daddy is our first film. With it, we feel we have captured the
same fun and frenetic feeling of some of our stage works, with a direct
comedic impulse almost anyone can enjoy. |
